Meet the Brains Behind this Operation!

Victoria Marie Martinez, Chef/Owner of Good Company

From a young age, she has always had an obsession with food. Victoria Martinez will have a decade of food service experience under her belt when beginning this new endeavor.  As a business owner and manager, she seeks to challenge herself with something no one is comfortable with, change. Over these years, Martinez has seen and understood the inner workings of a restaurant and has held multiple positions from dishwashing, line/prep work, serving, managing.

She began working at 14 years old, where her passion for hospitality sprouted, and her skills grew with dedication and a love for her craft. Martinez was born in Greensboro, North Carolina and is of Puerto Rican descent. She has strong roots in her culture, and loves to showcase the flavors of her childhood throughout her cooking. Victoria is also bilingual in Spanish and English.

She attended Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte, NC and obtained her associates in culinary arts, her bachelors degree in Food and Beverage Management along with a Sommelier minor. She has obtained the WSET Level 2 award in Wines & Spirits, as well as passing her Intermediate Wine Certification exam in pursuit of the Sommelier level 1.

Majority of her professional kitchen experience stems from classic Italian cuisine and American-Italian, coupled with a few must-visit bar destinations. She moved to Charleston, SC to be a kitchen manager at Kiawah Island Golf Resort, which led her to begin this food truck journey. She met Miseal Rivera, her partner in crime, working at Tomasso at Turtle Point.

She seeks inspiration from a famous quote by Julia Child,

“Find something you’re passionate about, and stay tremendously interested in it.”

Victoria finds inspiration through music, which she always plays while working, dancing, spending time with family and friends, and running. When she is not at work, you can find her enjoying time with her zoo of animals at home including a dog, two cats, and two ferrets.
