Misael Rivera, Sous Chef/Kitchen Manager
Misael Rivera is our hands-on kitchen manager and sous chef that will be in charge of creating new menu items while refining and perfecting our recipes. He was born and raised in Corozal, Puerto Rico. Rivera delivers flavors, authenticity and true passion for sharing his culture. He has received formal training at Escuela Hotelera de San Juan and graduated with a degree in the Culinary Arts.
He started his career in Food & Beverage at fifteen years old, with the humble beginnings of dishwashing at Brava’s Pizzeria, and worked his way up to learning how to prepare the food, and then to perfecting the cooking process. He has stayed tremendously interested in this industry and took the opportunity to move to the states in 2018, where he began working at Tomasso at Kiawah Island Golf Resort. Here, he began to grow his working knowledge in a commercial kitchen and developed more direction and understanding of his goals in the industry. Misael also developed a lot of his culinary skills and organization in this kitchen, and decided to grow his experience with Italian cuisine even further when he dedicated a year of service to Fannie & the Fox.
Rivera met the chef owner of Buena Compania working together at Kiawah, and has decided to embark on this journey alongside her to assist in these endeavors. He offers talent, speed, efficiency, and a hard work ethic to this team.

Misael making pizza’s to order
Misael has a special relationship for the craft of pizza and keeps fascinated with the processes of creating dough, while combining classic or new flavor combinations to traditional dishes. Misa has the utmost appreciation and respect for mother nature and all its elements.
Misael seeks his inspiration from famous chef, Francis Malmon for his culinary style and mastery of fire. In his free time, you can find Misa reading cookbooks, writing on his type-writer, or spending time finding his next new favorite restaurant.
